Diet

Yesterday I mesuare my body fat % and it was the lowest ever! So I decide to talk about diet here today!
I went to many nutritionist before in Brazil and USA, tried many differents diets and approaches like, high protein low carbs, high fat, lots of supplements etc, read a bunch of books and none of them gave me the result I wanted, expect the ones that talk about raw food diet, but I see as eating the way we were supposed to instead of a diet!
Any modification on the food such as heat, adding, etc makes the food different and it is either unrecognized by the body or really hard to digest causing lots of stress! Some people might say: "we were intent to eat meat" and my answer will be with a few questions: if we are intent to eat meat, can you chase an animal, kill it and eat right at the spot? With blood and everything? If you can maybe you were intent to eat meat.... I know I can't! Also, how come meat is so hard to digest and make our PH acid wicth is danger for our life? Also can you eat meat with no salt, and spices to have a better taste?
The truth is every animal in this planet know how to reconize the foods that they were desing to eat, just look around nature and how animals eat!
So, I got to a 4.5% body fat eating a raw vegan diet! I eat 80% carbs, 10% protein and 10% fat, and I am stronger and faster than ever! Think about it! Detox your mind and body from all the bad marketing around and eat the way you were intent to and reach maximum health! Remember it is not a diet, it is eating the way we were desing to! Also not being sick or not being overweight does not means that you are healthy!

My last few days my food intake has being a lot simple! Lots of fruits and a few veggies! For example, Sunday I did a 100 mile ride, and that day I had:
Breakfast orange, banana and papaya smoothie
During the ride 5 bananas and raw sugar, plus my electrolyte drink (will talk about this in another post)
Lunch 2 mangos, and orange juice
1 hour later raw garden of life protein mix with water
Swim workout than after mangos
Dinner spinach and strwberries salad

Feel good and GO RAW!

  1. Hi There,
I'm curious to try this way of eating. However I do see that for that day you ate many fruits but hardly any vegetables. Is that the norm or only for that day. I am not an expert on nutrition by any means so I wonder if any vital nutrients are misssing from eating vegetables.
Also another quick question. 10% protein only? Muscle is created from protein and is in fact protein...is this percentage a bit low..I've always seen it to be at least 30%. I appreciate your response to these questions. Thanks a ton!

  2. Hi Manuel,
If you keep a balanced diet with different fruits and veggies you will have everything you need from. The true is that we overeat a lot in everything. I eat a lot of fruits because I train a lot and I need the carbs, you can eat lots of fruits as well, but depending on your level of activity you might not be able to eat as much because you will be full.
As of protein we only need 10% of our calorie intake from protein(some people might need a little more like 15% or 20% but no more than that). You can check a few books: 80 10 10 Diet from Dr Douglas Graham, The China Study, Forks Over Knives (movie as well).
    I hope that helps!
    Feel Good,
    RW

  3. Thanks for the response. I'm very late with mine. I lost the link to your site and just found it again. I've added it to my rss reader now.

I really want to try this raw vegan way of eating. I am a long distance open water swimmer and age group triathlete. I recently completed a 4.5 mile swim and will start training to complete my first 10k OW swim this year. So endurance and muscle are my main goals while trying to get as lean as possible. Goal = 165 + 6-8% bodyfat. I think this is realistic for me. Currently 185.

One week I decided to eat nothing but salads, fruits and other vegetables. For that week I felt amazing! I did not have that heavy feeling after work lunches. My body felt very light...though the scale still says 185..grrr..and overall I felt amazing. Also, I hope this makes sense to you, I felt as if I was very clean internally. Hard to describe but a very good feeling. Now mind you, I love a good steak but i also love the way my body felt that one week and how mentally clear I was.

I will look into the resources you suggest and check out your site. I've seen your group RW Training at some of the triathlons here in South Florida. Here is my info http://about.me/ManuelRdgz My facebook page is where I post most of my fun race stuff.
